Sanctuary of the Caneve ---

Peace is found in the woods and the sanctuary of the Madonna delle Caneve seems to confirm this. The religious building dates back to the Fourteenth century, although it was later profoundly modified in the Eighteenth century. Its fame is due, however, to its most celebrated pilgrim: the future Pope John XXIII began visiting this place as a child and maintained the habit of celebrating Mass here once a year even after becoming Patriarch of Venice.
