Via Arena ---
One of the oldest streets in the city, it takes its name from the presence of an amphitheater in the western part of the City during Roman times. It is bordered to the south by the tall and austere wall of the Benedictine Monastery of S. Grata, interrupted by the baroque portal of the church, built starting from 1591 according to a design by Pietro Ragnolo. On the opposite side stands the imposing Palazzo della Misericordia, today home to the Museo Donizettiano.
