Palazzo della Misericordia ---

The Misericordia Consortium, a charitable institution founded in 1265, completed this building in 1664, the largest Baroque palace in Bergamo. A double-flight staircase leads to the first floor where the Donizetti Museum is housed. In addition to being the seat of the Consortium, the Palace first hosted the Collegio Mariano, the most important educational institution in the city before the Napoleonic period, and from 1908, the Civic Gaetano Donizetti Music Institute.
