Chiesa di San Michele al Pozzo Bianco ---

Did you know that the celebrated sixteenth-century artist Lorenzo Lotto lived in the "Casa del Vicario" located beside this church? The residence is today partly incorporated into the nearby boarding school of the Ursuline nuns; because of this proximity, the Venetian master created stunning works in San Michele al Pozzo Bianco, including the cycle of frescoes with Scenes from the Life of Mary, painted in 1525 in the left side chapel. This church is a true treasure if you love art: it contains some of the oldest frescoes in the Bergamo province and constitutes an exceptional lesson in the history of local painting, from the earliest years of the 13th century until the end of the 16th century. History and Architecture: from Lombard origins to renewal The church of San Michele al Pozzo Bianco is a jewel
