Built in the mid-1300s by Barnabò Visconti, probably one of the most imposing of its time, it was used as a military fortress but also as a summer residence for the lords of Milan. Strange events characterized the construction from the very beginning; the owner himself was poisoned in the dungeons beneath the Manor. Conquered in 1402 by the Colleoni, it became a target of wars and military stratagems: it even lost its bridge in 1416 under heavy catapult fire! During the Sforza period it was also the subject of one of Leonardo da Vinci's drawings! Today, in a wonderful park inhabited by squirrels and animals of the Adda Nord park, there remain the Visconti tower, the tallest in the region, vast underground chambers and dungeons that extend into the depths of the earth just below the
