Tenuta Castello di Grumello ---

Castello di Grumello is a medieval dwelling in the heart of Valcalepio, between Bergamo and Lake Iseo. Originally a military fortress with a watchtower, it later became the residence of condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni during the conflicts between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Milan. It subsequently passed through various noble families, including the Suardi and the Del Carretto, Princes Gonzaga of Vescovado. It was with the latter that Cabernet sauvignon was introduced, called Burdunì by the local farmers. On weekends the estate opens by reservation only.
