Valle del Brunone ---

The valley takes its name from the Brunone stream that flows through it, forming a perfect backdrop to a landscape rich in woods, alternating with small meadows and paths leading to isolated rustic cottages. The importance of this place is due to the bucolic landscape and the black shale outcroppings discovered in 1973: rocks that preserve a rich fossil fauna dating back to the Upper Triassic, that is, more than 200 million years ago! Among the finds are reptiles, fish, crustaceans and insects. The most spectacular, however, is represented by a dragonfly known as Italophlebia gervasuttii which, magically, preserves intact the network drawn by the veins on its wings.
