Tower of San Giovanni ---

History has often alternated in this elevated place. Around the year one thousand a fortification was built. One of its towers was later transformed into a beautiful Romanesque bell tower, next to which the first parish church arose. The ancient fourteenth-century structure was remodeled in the eighteenth century, but this construction is no longer visible today either. The ancient church of San Giovanni was in fact demolished in 1904 to the great dismay of Angelo Roncalli, who loved it dearly.
