Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola ---
Located on Monte Isola, the largest lake island at the center of Lake Iseo. It sits at the highest point of the lake, from where you can admire a wide panorama of the lake and the mountains surrounding it. The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola was the first place of worship dedicated to the Madonna to be built in the Lake Iseo area; in fact, its origins date back to the middle of the 5th century. The name "Madonna della Ceriola" probably derives from cerro, the wooden essence used to construct the wooden statue of the 12th century, representing the Virgin enthroned with the Child in her arms, venerated inside the Sanctuary. Inside the sanctuary are numerous frescoes and paintings and ex-votos, gifts from the faithful that commemorate the graces attributed to the Madonna. Every second Sunday in July
