
Tagliaferri Refuge ---
At 2328 m in elevation, the Tagliaferri refuge is located in Val di Scalve and is managed by Francesco Tagliaferri, creator of the refuge project dedicated to his brother who died in the Peruvian Andes in the 1980s and has been managing it for over 30 years. It takes time and effort to reach Tagliaferri: an excursion into the wild nature of Val di Scalve. You start from Ronco di Schilpario, taking the mule track that climbs regularly along the Vo valley, along a challenging 4-hour route. Shorter is the Valtellina access from Laghi di Belviso along a 2.5-hour route. There are 50 beds and many seating areas: the indoor dining room has 50 seats and the outdoor tables have 100 seats. It is characterized by zero-kilometer cuisine cooked over slow fire, because house specialties like boccon
