Palazzo Scotti ---

On the street named after the maestro Gaetano Donizetti stands the building where he spent his final days of life: Palazzo Scotti. The rooms that housed Donizetti are located on the first floor and are frescoed with works by painters Camuzio and Bonomini in neoclassical style. The testimonies of his life collected here were later donated to the Museo Donizettiano, especially the furnishings from his rooms such as the armchair, the bed and bedcover, and the piano that the composer himself had purchased for the Basoni family in Vienna in 1844. Remaining as reminders of Donizetti's presence are a portrait by Giuseppe Rilossi depicting Donizetti in his final days, and a plaque outside the building with the inscription "Gaetano Donizetti died in this house - the eighth of April 1848".
