From convent to economic and exhibition hub hosting important art exhibitions: the history of Palazzo Creberg has truly changed over the centuries! Built in 1427 by the Franciscan Friars together with the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, it has served various purposes: it was a shelter for the poor and also a military hospital during World War I. In 1928 it became the headquarters of the Piccolo Credito Bergamasco, a banking institute that remains one of the city's landmark institutions to this day, though now under a different name (Banco BPM). Frescoed and decorated with mosaics and sculptures by great Bergamo artists throughout the 1900s, it also hosts the cultural and exhibition activities of the Creberg Foundation, which organizes exhibitions of high artistic importance, promoting sop
