Bergamo Botanical Garden "Lorenzo Rota": a window onto the landscape ---

The "Lorenzo Rota" Botanical Garden is located in Città Alta, 5 minutes from Colle Aperto and 15 minutes from Piazza Vecchia. It sits on the verdant Baluardo di Castagneta, once a defensive outpost reinforcing the most vulnerable area of the Venetian Walls, the northwestern one. The Garden is accessible only via the Scaletta di Colle Aperto. Along its path, which climbs the hillside between houses and gardens, tactile panels suitable for the blind and visually impaired guide visitors toward the heart of the Garden, telling the story of the transformations of plant life on earth from the Big Bang to modernity. At the top, paths wind between small woods and flower beds, flanking a water lily pond and magnificent views toward the Bergamo Prealps. Defined by Gardenia magazine as a "gem"
