Cathedral Museum of Bergamo: a journey through time between archaeology and sacred art The Museum and Treasury of the Cathedral, inaugurated in 2012 and since 2025 part of the Museo Bernareggi circuit, is located in a place rich in history: the underground chambers of the Cathedral of Sant'Alessandro. During the 2004 restructuring works, important archaeological findings emerged that tell the story of Bergamo from the 10th century B.C. to the 16th century. We will discover together the traces of prehistoric settlements, the remains of Roman domus, the vestiges of the early Christian church and the Romanesque cathedral, a true journey through time in the heart of the city. History of the Cathedral Museum The Diocese of Bergamo wanted to create this museum to make known the history of its own church, illu
