Neighbor of the Archaeological Museum in Piazza della Cittadella, to which it was moved in the same year, 1960, the Museum of Natural Sciences preserves most of its collections in the archives to allow experts to study them and deepen knowledge about the environment, living and extinct species. Founded in 1861 with an initial collection housed in the Regio Istituto Tecnico, it today counts millions – yes, millions! – of specimens. Before entering, we give you a small warning: an enormous mammoth will welcome you at the entrance. Don't be frightened, it's friendly! Once you've passed the Museum's prehistoric guardian, you'll find the specimens organized by main collection areas: zoology, entomology, geology and paleontology.
