Schilpario Mines ---

A complex of mines, composed of 60 kilometers of galleries, winds through the mountains that protect the Val di Scalve. Of these, 4 are open to visitors and you can explore them partly on foot and for some stretches aboard one of the original railway cars! The rail system is still in operation and will give you an authentic experience, taking you back in time to the years when the miners of these lands risked their lives right here. To access the tunnels you will be provided with a protective helmet and a waterproof cape, and you'll be ready for adventure! Through documentation, period photographs, authentic objects and tools used in the mines, former miners and some young guides will help you discover the history and mining culture of Schilpario.
