The Sanctuary of Lavello ---

In Foppenico di Calolziocorte, at the edges of the ancient Valle San Martino, stands the sanctuary of Lavello. The origins of the church are very remote. It is said that in 1014, next to a noble castle, there existed a small church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In 1480, during the enlargement of the church, a hermit discovered a sarcophagus and a spring that proved to be miraculous. Since then, numerous miraculous events have been attributed to the Madonna.
