
Barbellino Dam ---
To visit the largest artificial lake in the Bergamo mountains, you need to reach an altitude of 1862 meters, in the Alta Val Seriana: here you'll find the Barbellino, which collects water from various valleys and from the Natural Barbellino Lake. Between 1926 and 1931, an impressive dam was built to regulate the energy produced in the nearby hydroelectric power plant: thanks to its opening, every summer, on set dates, you can witness the spectacular show of the Cascate del Serio. Approximately 10,000 cubic meters of water are discharged downstream creating a triple waterfall of 315 meters, the highest in Italy.
