Church of Saints Philip and James ---

The Church of Saints Philip and James is located in Cerete Alto and overlooks a panorama that embraces the entire Val Borlezza. It was built according to a design by sculptor Andrea Fantoni, on this occasion his first experience as an architect designer, who chose the locality called 'castello' on a hilltop. It was constructed between 1711 and 1725 and consecrated only in 1736; for its construction, materials from the old parish church were reused, which stood just below, in the current Piazza Martiri della Libertà. Only the sixteenth-century chapel of the Annunciata remains here, a niche with a fresco from 1421 and the trace on the floor of the plan of the original church of Saints Philip and James.
