Cavellas Roman village in Val Cavallina ---
Did you know that Val Cavallina, in the province of Bergamo, was inhabited as far back as Roman times? Where Casazza now stands, there was once a settlement called Cavellas. It was a chance discovery of some burials during the nineteenth century that led to the discovery of the entire village, hidden yet preserved by the thick 4-meter alluvial deposits of the Drione stream. You will be able to see the remains of walls, floor levels, and even hearths, within a complex stratigraphy approximately one meter deep; it is truly an important site for its size, uniqueness, and duration over time!
