Castello Colleoni Martinengo di Cavernago ---

The Castello Colleoni Martinengo is located in Cavernago, in the Bergamo countryside, just 20 minutes from the city of Bergamo and less than an hour from Milan. Its centuries-long history begins before the thirteenth century as a building of unknown purpose, then changes radically when it becomes the property of the famous condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni (1470), who transforms it to make it militarily more defensible, a fate shared by the nearby Castello di Malpaga, but also more representative and livable for his family. Inherited by his daughter Ursina and her husband Gherardo Martinengo-Colleoni, in the following centuries the building continues to have a certain strategic importance and undergoes further modifications under the counts Giovannelli and Mazzotti. The castle remains today a splendid private noble residence
